Digital Photography: LEVEL TWO

digital photography level 2This 8 hour course is an introductory course to digital photography. The course assumes little or no prior knowledge of your camera or photo composition. The aim of the course is to get beginner photographers comfortable with the camera and its most useful functions.

You will learn the basic photographic and digital terminology. This workshop will give you valuable tips and rules for creating more compelling photos. The content of the course is based on the features and knowledge required for Digital SLR (DSLR) cameras, it is not suitable for the digital 'point & shoot' cameras.

At the seminar you will:

  • learn how to take photos in semi-manual modes
  • the difference of A, S or T and P mode
  • ISO, white balance, depth of field and exposure compensation
  • the rule of thirds, color composition and leading lines
  • using natural light effects

What is included

  • 3 hours of instruction (theory) in class room/garden
  • 3 hours hands-on exercises
  • 2 hours review of your photos in class room

A significant amount of time will be spent ensuring that you understand the basics of photography, your camera settings, the depth of field, shutter speed and how these relate to the program modes on your camera.

The essentials of better composition will also be explored and you will learn how to review your work with a critical eye. All of this will improve your photographs.

What to bring:
Your camera (battery fully charged & charger with cable), your camera manual, 3 of your favorite photos and your laptop for easy sharing and getting feedback from the instructor and an empty memory card (with an identifying mark).
